Expert games typically come with extensive rules and, as a result, present a somewhat high barrier to entry. Generally, expert games are primarily of interest to experienced players aged 12 and up. Compared to games in other categories, expert games often have a longer playing time of two or more hours (especially with multiple players). The longer playing time allows for an even deeper immersion in the game worlds. Developing long-term strategies, along with often close, neck-and-neck competition, are among the defining characteristics of expert games.
