Colourful New Games for Spring

New releases by Edition Spielwiese available at Pegasus Spiele

Friedberg, Mar. 10, 2022: New games by Edition Spielwiese are now available and exclusively distributed by Pegasus Spiele. Fans of abstract tile-laying games can look forward to a new game by successful designer Uwe Rosenberg, Framework. reMEmber and Animotion, two family games for groups of three+ people that focus on personal stories and mimicking animals and emotions, have also been released.

After Nova Luna, which was nominated for Game of the Year in 2020, Uwe Rosenberg designed a new family game: Framework. Square tiles are again the main piece, but this time there is no Moon Wheel influencing the course of the game. Instead, one to four players ages 8 and up build their own displays. Every round, players choose one tile with different colours of frames and/or tasks and add it to their personal display. Once a task is completed by adding at least as many frames in the required colour horizontally and/or vertically, the player may place one of their tokens. The first person to complete 22 tasks, wins.

Framework requires tactical planning and out of the box thinking. To complete a task the frames directly adjacent to the task count, but also all the tiles with at least one frame of the required colour that are adjacent to each other will count. By cleverly adding to their display, players can fulfill multiple tasks at once. All fans of abstract tile-laying games with simple rules but also depth can look forward to around 30 minutes of fun per game with Framework.

Colours are also important in the second new release by Edition Spielwiese. reMEmber is a new edition of the small card game Farben (German for colours) by Apolline Jove. Now the communicative game has been published editorially and graphically revised. Three to five players ages 8 and up can now play cooperatively and collectively try to remember as many word-colour-combinations as possible. Every round, one of the 108 word cards is uncovered. All players match one of twelve colours to the word and explain their choice – in the best case with a memorable, personal story. With reMEmber, players not only discover why friendship can be blue, living room yellow or courage red, but they also learn many personal things about the other players. reMEmber is not only directed at fans of games of memory and association but also at all groups that want to experience games full of personal moments. To remove barriers, all colours and terms are also printed on the cards as words in four languages (German, English, French and Spanish).

A lot of fun awaits players with the third new game by Edition Spielwiese, Animotion. Players ages 8 and up mimic an animal – but the animal is also showing a certain emotion. This way, combinations like a bloodthirsty otter or a dreamy ferret come into existence. To give the others a chance to guess the combination, a selection of six animal cards and six emotion cards is displayed. An entertaining game principle, quick rounds of only 20 minutes and a player count of three and more – Animotion is the perfect game for a family game night as well as a party game. All 50 animal and 50 emotion cards include four languages (German, English, French and Spanish). Animotion is a revised edition of the French game Animal Suspects by Bruno Faidutti and Nathalie Grandperrin. The new illustrations of the family game, that’s now available in a handy format, are by graffiti-artist Pablo Fontagnier who already humorously staged animal protagonists for two other Edition Spielwiese games: Memoarrr and Memorinth.

Another new Edition Spielwiese game is expected to be available in July: FYFE. In this abstract tile-laying game by Kosch, players fill their board with tokens and scoring boards. In order to do so, they draw a token every round and place this token or one from an earlier round on their player board. If the token is placed in a row that does not have a scoring board yet, the player also has to place a scoring board. Once the requirements of a scoring board are fulfilled, it is turned over and counted at the end of the game. The first person to complete a scoring board, receives a bonus. Planning ahead and placing tokens and boards in the right moment are essential to win a game of FYFE.

Framework and reMEmber are available in Pegasus Spiele’s digital game library so that players can give them a try online.
