From the tallest towers to the highest moors

New Deep Print Games releases published by Pegasus Spiele

Friedberg, November 13, 2023: Pegasus Spiele partner Deep Print Games has released four new games in fall 2023: the card game 5 Towers, the family game Triqueta plus its expansion Hidden Wolves, and the nature-themed core game Moorland.

In 5 Towers, two to five players ages seven and up compete to build the tallest towers possible. A row of cards with numbered tower sections is revealed each round, and players bid for the number of cards they are willing to take. The highest bid wins, then that player must immediately claim and add the cards onto their towers. The rules for building towers are simple—you may only have one tower of each color, you must start at the base and build upwards, and the value of each card of a tower must decrease as you build higher. This grows more challenging each time you win a bid! Good timing is required to score the most points in this family game by Kasper Lapp. Look for easter eggs and pop culture references aplenty in the beautiful illustrations. Continuing with right timing, we turn to Triqueta, a brisk game designed by Stefan Dorra and Ralf zur Linde for two to five players. Each turn, you make a simple choice — draw a new tile or claim an existing row of tiles from the table. Once you’ve taken a row, you sit out the rest of the round. The winner will be the player with the most points after four rounds, and you’ll score maximum points by collecting exactly three tiles of a given animal. If you hold four or more tiles of an animal at game end, you’ll lose points instead. This makes each turn tricky — do you stop drawing new tiles and collect your row or do you press onward? Mixing set collection and push your luck with beautiful components, Triqueta is a delight that will keep players players ages seven and up on their toes. How to play video for Triqueta.

Triqueta: Hidden Wolves expands the base game in three ways — the addition of wolves who keep to the shadows, new tiles with shadow versions of the original six animals, and an exciting two-player rules variant. Shadow animals are unusual because they remain hidden until the end of the game, and there is no limit of the number of shadow animal tiles you can collect. At the end of game, before totaling scores, all shadow animals are revealed and must be combined with matching tiles as usual, even if it results in more than three of the same type. Be careful, playing in the shadows is a risky proposition!

Board game themes range from the mundane to the fantastical, but Moorland brings attention to the world that surrounds us —the very planet we call home. Two to four players ages ten and up carefully tend to the precious habitat of peatlands and the unique plants and animals that rely on its existence. Supply your moor with water by building clever networks of waterways through which indigenous plant life will drift across your landscape. At the end of 12 rounds, players will score points across multiple categories including the abundance of plant life, the biodiversity of animal species, and the length of their longest waterway. Designed by Steffen Bogen, Moorland is a unique resource management game with a compelling puzzle that will bring the beauty of the moor to your gaming table and highlight one of our vital ecosystems. It is part of the In Nature series and purchasing the game supports environmental projects around the globe. Teaser video for Moorland.
