Pegasus Spiele announces intergalactic action game Spaceship Unity
Friedberg, July 21, 2022: The space adventure Spaceship Unity offers a new kind of gameplay in which the entire home becomes the playground. The cooperative action game by designer duo Jens Merkl and Ulrich Blum is set to be released at SPIEL 2022 by Pegasus Spiele.
For about a month, the gaming community speculated about what the slogan "Join the IPA" and the corresponding website might be all about. Pegasus Spiele is now happy to announce that a new adventure game is hiding behind this slogan, which gamers can look forward to at SPIEL 2022: Spaceship Unity - Season 1.1.
In the game by Jens Merkl and Ulrich Blum, two to four players aged ten and up experience an intergalactic adventure as recruits of the IPA, the Interplanetary Alliance. The five sequential episodes of Season 1.1 are about nothing less than the Galactic Peace, which the players - all of them newcomers in the intergalactic business - must preserve. The fact that their spaceship, the Unity, is not one of the newest ships in the fleet adds to the challenge. However, the recruits don't have much time to prepare for their mission, because the game requires full physical effort right from the start.
Spaceship Unity takes gaming to another level. Instead of just sitting at the table, the entire home becomes a spaceship. For example, the vacuum cleaner acts as a jump drive, the blinds as a shield generator and a handful of spoons as a maintenance shaft. If a household does not have all the items it needs, they can be replaced by backup systems.
Beyond that, the story is the focus at Spaceship Unity. Like a TV series, it plays out over five episodes, each of which is divided into several chapters. There is no winning or losing - the story always keeps going. Nevertheless, the players should try to master the tasks as best they can, because every result of the game round has far-reaching consequences. The crew's performance determines in which chapter they continue playing, so all chapters won’t be reached in one single playthrough. However, since no material is destroyed during the adventurous journey, players can repeat the campaign as many times as they like.
The story of Spaceship Unity will continue in 2023 with Season 1.2.
