New habitats underwater and on land

Pegasus Spiele releases Lumicora and Triqueta 2nd Edition by Deep Print Games

Friedberg, June 21, 2024: Two family games by Deep Print Games will be published exclusively by Pegasus Spiele in mid-June: In Lumicora, a 3D tile placement game, players grow corals in an underwater world. In addition, Triqueta returns in a second edition that combines the base game with the Hidden Wolves expansion.

The sea shines in bright colors, but the luminescent organisms that make the coral reefs glow are under threat. Their habitat has been in sharp decline in recent decades and it is up to the players to rebuild it. In Lumicora by Rita Modl, two to four players score points by strategically placing and stacking different colored coral tiles, while also attracting a diverse collection of creatures that rely on the coral. Each of the four coral colors can be scored exactly once each game, so players must carefully consider when to score while they play through the game’s ten rounds. After the final scoring round, players examine all the creatures that have settled in the coral to gain additional points. The player with the most points will win.

Lumicora, is an easy-to-play family game aimed at underwater fans and three-dimensional thinkers ages ten and up. Experienced players can discover new challenges on the reverse side of both the reef and score boards, which introduce an alternate player map as well as a new end-game variant for scoring underwater creatures. Profits from the sale of Lumicora are used to support environmental projects, such as the protection of coral reefs, organized by the Global Nature Fund.

Triqueta, the set collection game by Stefan Dorra and Ralf zur Linde, was published by Deep Print Games in spring 2023 and will now be released in a second edition. Referring to the connection of three things, Triqueta has players attempting to collect animal tokens in groups of exactly three matching tokens. Each turn, a player will either reveal and place a new animal token in a row at the center of the table, or will instead choose to claim any one of the remaining rows of tokens. At the end of the game, each perfect triqueta of an animal species will score maximum points. However, the balance is delicate: If a player has collected more than three of any specific animal type, it will score only negative points.

Triqueta 2nd Edition includes all the components of the base game as well as the Triqueta: Hidden Wolves expansion. The tokens for these friendly but shy wolves are the most valuable in the game, but caution is advised—familiar animals are also hiding in the shadows and might ruin a perfect three-animal-triqueta. Triqueta 2nd Edition presents two to five players ages seven and up with new tactical decisions and adds even more excitement and depth to the original release.
