Pegasus Spiele publishes The Dwarves Big Box
Friedberg, June 1, 2022: Ten years after the release of the base game The Dwarves, Pegasus Spiele has released the Big Box for the cooperative game based on Markus Heitz’ bestselling novels. The Dwarves Big Box combines the base game and all the expansion content released so far.
Inspired by the bestselling fantasy novels of the same name by German author Markus Heitz, The Dwarves is a cooperative core game that invites fans of the genre to play out the saga of Tungdil Goldhand and the great kingdoms of Girdlegard. Players take on the role of a group of heroes and protect the Perished Land against the Army of Evil. Since the release of The Dwarves in 2012 the expansions Combined Might, New Heroes and Saga as well as the two mini expansions Albae and The Triumph of the Dwarves (from the two-player-game The Dwarves: The Duel) were published. The Dwarves Big Box is a collected edition combining the base game with all of its published expansions, providing scenario content gleaned from the full five-novel series and instant access to the many characters, challenges, and rewards to be found throughout the Perished Land. Additionally, it offers numerous ways of adjusting the game’s difficulty.
At the start of the game, two to six players choose one of twelve unique dwarven heroes, teaming up to defend their land from hordes of Orcs, Trolls and the dark elves Élfar. Each round the crew must complete tasks drawn from the scenario cards, keeping the land from being ravaged by dark forces. Over the course of the game these tasks will grow more difficult, so players need a combination of luck, strategy, and teamwork to win. Players will also be able to increase their character’s strength and skill by gaining or crafting special items as they complete their tasks and adventures. Every hero has individual strengths and Special Abilities that can be particularly helpful depending on the scenario. Strategically choosing which character will undertake which actions, and when, can be key to finding success. 15 detailed miniatures and 75 wooden Troops, shaped to match the three groups of antagonists round off the atmospheric game play.
In addition to The Dwarves Big Box, two character packs are available. These can be combined with both the Big Box and The Dwarves base game and expand them by one character each. This way, players with the respective character pack can now also choose Goïmgar Shimmerbeard or Djerůn, the bodyguard of Andôkai the Stormy, as their hero in the game.
